'Minecraft' PC snapshot previews tougher mobs, dropper block for Redstone Update

Mojang relased another snapshot for the PC version of "Minecraft" on Thursday. This latest preview release to the 1.5 Redstone Update makes two mobs even more difficult to kill while also adding a new Dropper block and changing the way TNT explosions from minecarts work.
When the Redstone Update is officially released, "Minecraft" players can expect to find both skeletons and zombies harder to take down. Skeletons will now shoot arrows at players faster as they approach to melee. On the other shooting one zombie with a bow and arrow will now "aggro" other zombies towards the player in a larger area than before. These two changes will require Survival Mode players to rethink their strategies when dealing with mobs.

 

The Dispenser gets a companion block now in the form of the Dropper. The Dropper acts just as its name suggests by dropping items out instead of shooting or using items like the Dispenser. This can be used with the new Hopper block plus minecart and chest mechanics.

Other changes include the ability to put a Hopper in a minecart and putting Quartz blocks in different orientations. Texture pack users will no longer have to quit to the main menu to switch textures now too. That can be done in-game.
Finally, as we reported earlier, blowing up TNT carts does not blow up tracks or their supporting blocks as long as the TNT is charged by activator rails.
Here is the changelog list for the "Minecraft" 13w03a snapshot. You can download the snapshot now from Mojang if you wish but it is recommended for experienced players only.

'Minecraft - Pocket Edition' Update Adds Clouds, Armor, And A Bunch Of Other Stuff

Heads up: that Minecraft - Pocket Edition  update we've been talking about is now out and available for download. And considering how much this thing adds to the experience, fans should probably spend the next few minutes mashing the update button on their devices.
If you haven't been in the loop, Version 0.6.0 sees the addition of several new kinds of blocks, including Nether Brick and Smooth Stone. It also adds armor, signs, clouds, sand and gravel gravity, and baby animals. We're using "new" a little loosely here, as all of this stuff has been present in Minecraft proper for a while.

As for tweaks, this update has a notable one: an "improved" d-pad. We've spent a few minutes with this, and are pretty stoked. Movement feels tighter and much more predictable now. That's cool.
We'll have more on Pocket Edition really soon for those of you out there that can't bust through the learning curve. For the rest of you, hey, why are you still reading this and not downloading the update?

Eighth free update to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition aiming to arrive in January, provided it gets through Microsoft's certification process.

The eighth update to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is aiming to to live on consoles before the end of January, according to a tweet by developer 4J Studios, but that the team needs "to wait and see how it does in Cert Testing."

Chief amongst the additions are a suite of crash fixes, some tweaks to Love Mode and making Blazes now drop Glowstone Dust alongside Blaze Rods. The full patch notes are below.
4J Studios previously said The End, an alternate plane of the Minecraft world which features floating islands and is the homeworld of the Endermen, would feature in TU8 but this has now been pushed back to TU9.
The full list of updates in TU8 of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition:
