"Minecraft" for the PC received an update Tuesday morning but don't get to excited as it is not the Redstone Update. Instead, it is a patch that addresses a couple of bugs that could crash the game client.
Officially, the "Minecraft" update received on Wednesday, Jan. 9 is 1.4.7 and fixes the following issues.
- Fixed crash related to arrows fired from dispensers
- Fixed a multiplayer crash when using fireworks without a fireworks star
- Fixed long timeout when checking SRV records
Please note that this patch does not contain any of the features released in the snapshot last week such as the Redstone Block or the Daylight Sensor. 1.4.7 contains no new features and merely fixes some game crashing bugs found in the 1.4.6 release. Additionally, "Minecraft" should not require any server or mod updates as a result of this latest patch.
Mojang is still working on the 1.5 Redstone Update for "Minecraft" but we should not expect to see its release until late January at the earliest and possibly into February. It's a massive update that adds many new items and features plus a rewrite of the rendering engine.
